Alicia Kearns Celebrates Local Heroes

This week, Rutland and Melton MP Alicia Kearns is recognising the team at Little Angels Childcare, Uppingham, and Wymondham’s Kumar Rakshit, and Max and Will Moore for their outstanding response to the COVID-19 Pandemic.

Every week, Alicia celebrates at least one winner of the ‘Unsung Hero’ award, raising awareness of people doing extraordinary things locally, and bolstering community spirit amidst the pandemic. All those recognised will receive a certificate of recognition, a badge and be invited to a celebratory event once the pandemic is over as a small way to say thank you.

Kumar Rakshit is the Head Chef at the Berkley Arms in Wymondham who cooked up a venison curry for local vulnerable residents. The venison was donated and butchered by Max Moore, who delivered the 96 orders to self-isolating people in Saxby, Edmonthorpe and Wymondham with the help of his brother Will. The villagers of Wymondham recognised this initiative by donating £1,047 to the Leicester Hospitals Charity.

The team at Little Angels Childcare, headed by Lucy Lewin, have been creating free arts and crafts packs for children in Uppingham and the surrounding area, helping them have some fun during this difficult time. The team have also been making and delivering free food parcels to vulnerable families using local market stall holders and butchers.
